Coaching
The coaching process involves:
- Assessing current performance - comparing self assessment with colleagues
- Setting development goals
- Identifying specific behavioural changes and actions to pursue
- Regular meetings to track progress and update development plan
- Reflect and celebrate success when goals are achieved
Mentoring
The mentoring process is similiar to the coaching process but operates less in the "behavioural/action" level and more at the "knowledge/thinking" level.
Mentoring is useful to guide business owners/managers to explore different strategies.
